Pilates, Yoga, Barre or HIIT? Which Should You Offer?

These fitness modalities are going gangbusters but we reveal which you should add to your studio

Yoga, Pilates, and Barre have long reigned supreme in the boutique fitness world, but according to recent projections, High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is poised to make a significant impact by 2029.

The boutique fitness industry is experiencing rapid growth, with a projected global market value expected to reach $54.81 billion by 2029, up from $34.3 billion in 2023. Consumers are increasingly seeking personalized experiences and a sense of community in their fitness routines, driving the popularity of boutique fitness.

YogaSix and CorePower Yoga are leading the charge in the yoga space, while Club Pilates and JetSet Pilates dominate the Pilates market. Barre3 and The Barre Code are attracting loyal followings with their Ballet-inspired workouts.

However, HIIT is emerging as a frontrunner for future growth. Its appeal lies in its ability to deliver maximum results in minimal time, making it a perfect fit for boutique settings that prioritize quality over quantity.

Major players like Barry’s are already gearing up for a HIIT surge, with plans for significant expansion both domestically and internationally. The communal appeal of boutique fitness, coupled with rising concerns about health and wellness, is driving the industry's growth.

My opinion? Adding HIIT modalities to your studio can be a game-changer. Not only can it attract new leads, but it can also increase "wallet share" from existing members as well as their friends and family who may be drawn to HIIT's fast-paced, results-driven approach. Moreover, HIIT programs are relatively lightweight and only require a contracted fitness instructor to run, making them a cost-effective investment with potentially high returns.
